Restoring the balance in your life

Welcome to Penny Lowe Holistic Therapies for health, relaxation

and renewal

Welcome

I have worked as a holistic therapist for a number of years qualifying with the British School of Reflexology in 1998 and as an EFT practitioner in 2006. My work with reflexology, EFT and other healing techniques helps the body to return to its natural state of balance and therefore full health.

I enjoy helping people learn to relax deeply, which is a vital first step in allowing the body and mind to begin the healing process. When we are chronically stressed our bodies constantly direct resources to survival functions (the fight/flight response) which means processes like digestion and the immune function become compromised. The techniques that I use encourage a move to the rest and digest state and generally lead to feelings of calm and deep relaxation.

I specialise in helping women in their menopausal and perimenopausal years, when physical and emotional symptoms can become overwhelming for some. Whether you prefer to use entirely natural methods or are using hormone replacements as well, there are many things you can do to support yourself in this time of transition.

Please contact me for an informal chat to see if I can help in your particular situation.

Therapies

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient method of activating the body’s own healing power and is based on the principle that reflexes on the feet (or hands) relate to internal organs and other structures in the body. It is a safe and natural therapy, suitable for everyone, and most people find it very relaxing. Each treatment will be tailored to your individual needs. Reflexology can be used for general relaxation, to bring a sense of wellbeing during times of stress or to support living with a range of conditions.

Regular reflexology during the menopause can help balance your hormones and

provide relief from both physical and mental/emotional symptoms.

Indian Head Massage

This is a massage to the shoulders, neck, scalp and face and can help to release tension in these areas. It is done with you seated in a chair, either with or without oils. It is good for relieving tightness in both the shoulders and jaw – both places where it is common to hold on to stress. Reflexology and Indian Head Massage make a wonderfully relaxing combination if you particularly need to de-stress and unwind.

EFT

EFT (or emotional freedom technique) has been likened to acupuncture without needles, or a psychological version of acupuncture. It involves tapping with your fingertips on certain acupuncture points to reduce anxiety or overwhelm. Many issues can be addressed with EFT, both physical and emotional, and it is suitable for everyone due to its gentle and non-invasive nature. It is a very simple technique to learn, yet also very powerful and effective. Once the basic technique has been mastered it can be used as a self-help tool for day to day problems or with a therapist for deeper healing work.

My Sessions

I am happy to provide one-off sessions of Reflexology or Indian Head Massage, for example if you are on holiday in the area. However, most of my clients sign up for a course of treatments. If you are not sure where to start I offer a free consultation to discuss your needs. I provide a safe space to listen to you without judgement and can offer you various techniques to help you feel more able to cope with life’s challenges.

I work with women during their menopausal and perimenopausal years, which can begin at any time from age 40, or even before. There are many changes to adjust to and it can be very helpful to have a little extra support at this time. Whether you are choosing to stick to natural remedies or are using any form of HRT as well, there are lots of techniques and therapies to make this transition a little easier.
